Roy Austin, Ph.D.
Roy Austin is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving the North Texas area near McKinney.

Dr. Austin received his bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene,  his master’s degree from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, and his Ph.D. in Counseling and Guidance from East Texas State University. He is currently a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Dr. Austin has taught psychology and held administrative positions at the university level,  as well as being staff counsel of one of the largest churches in Dallas for thirteen years. He also held a private practice in Dallas for over thirty years before relocating with his wife Karen to McKinney in 2003.

In addition to his private practice,  Dr. Austin conducts conferences and workshops in such areas as:
  • advanced communication skills,
  • conflict resolution,
  • stress management,
  • functioning well in the workplace,
  • effective parenting,
  • relationships, and
  • self-esteem
Dr. Austin is available for individual, marital, and family therapy. He also available for speaking to and conducting workshops with business, medical, educational, religious, and civic organizations.

Dr. Austin is the author of Definitions for Living: Making Sense of Words and Ideas that Define Our Lives. Written originally as articles to assist his clients during the process of heir therapy, Definitions for Living is now available to the general public.
